Dimensions Institute for Education & Research
DIMENSIONS INSTITUTE FOR EDUCATION & RESEARCH (DIER) is the umbrella organization under which four institutions function in various fields of literary and social service. The objective of DIER is to promote education and employment amongst tribal youth in backward and rural areas of India so as to strengthen them economically, socially, culturally and technologically.
The brainchild of the “UNITED TRIBAL SOCIETY,” Dimensions Institute for Education & Research (DIER) is headed by Noel Manuel as the existing and present director, who has vast experience in the field of language, poetry and social service. He is assisted by his wife and general secretary of the United Tribal Society Ketholenuo Angami Manuel
DIER was established on September 5, 2004 with an open-minded view of reaching out to the tribal youth and assisting them in nurturing talent, determination, confidence, education and skills further enabling them to be self-dependent, self-sufficient and self- developed individuals of the new millennium.
Imparting education in communication (Language, IT, Poetry and publication) through its four institutes and making it a basic need for every tribal individual is the vision of DIER. Education is every child’s basic right and this philosophy has been translated through our charitable contributions in offering one individual free education every month. The numbers will be increased to five students per month with effect from 2010.
DIER is currently operating the school of phonetics and spoken English and would shortly be setting up computer labs and rooms for poetry readings and workshops. Nonetheless, the publishing wing of Dimensions Institute for Education & Research (DIER), known as “DIER Publishers” has released several books, educational CDs on phonetics, grammar, conversation and poetry. The need to publish our own teaching and learning aids was prompted through our personal experiences with the learning difficulties faced by tribal people. Genuine problems need genuine solutions and the need to provide CDs and texts that best suit the need of the tribal people was inevitable. Keeping this in mind DIER has further pledged to release one teaching / learning aid once every three months. The target is to release 50 teaching and learning aids by 2012. Visit our publications link to know more.
DIER has plans of setting up institutes in various district headquarters in the eight north eastern states to facilitate and provide young tribal people the chance to grow with education.
